Based in Seattle, Washington in the United States, Rally Tactical Systems is an OEM developer of software components focused on communications in the tactical environment.
Engage is our core platform and is a flexible communications library written in C++, compatible with various platforms and environments. It supports diverse data streams over multiple transport mediums, including IP, RF waveforms, and satellite connections. Emphasizing security, it uses open standards like RTP and AES encryption, with open-source third-party components. Its API enables integration into any programming environment, and it accommodates both full-duplex and half-duplex communication, making it adaptable for diverse applications such as business communication, military operations, and IoT devices. Engage prioritizes reliability, performance, and customization, offering a trusted solution for a broad spectrum of communication needs.
An adjunct to Engage is our Rallypoint software. This is a standalone executable software component available for most platforms in the market. A Rallypoint’s function is that of application-specific networking - generally to create a multicast overlay network on top of networks that do not support multicast. Rallypoints are very small executables and are extremely efficient at securely routing traffic between Engage nodes, other Rallypoints in mesh configurations, and even third-party, non-Engage, traffic. In fact, Rallypoints are so efficient and flexible that many people have built out entire virtual infrastructures using just meshed Rallypoints for a variety of uses that are not even Engage-specific. Such architectures have been dubbed a “Rally Tactical Infrastructure” or “RTI'' and have been successfully used as a whole new type of Virtual Private Network (VPN).
EBS provides “bridging” between channels - or “groups” as Engage refers to them. Bridges fundamentally forward traffic between groups, mixing multiple sources together when necessary as well as providing additional capabilities such as transcoding, transcasting, and traffic smoothing. In addition, EBS can be used as a means to exchange traffic between multiple security domains, preserving each domain’s unique encryption requirements and naming methodology, while still allowing communication between those users in those domains.
EAR is just that - a listener; and is a service that records traffic on Engage groups - including media, data, and metadata. Each recording is safely stored in interim storage on the EAR computer and can be uploaded to third-party archival facilities for long-term storage and/or retrieval. These recordings are secured and protected by ECDSA signatures and embedded X.509 public keys to guard against tampering - making those recordings suitable for use in chain of custody scenarios.
For those customers that do not have archival facilities of their own, RTS offers an archival and retrieval service that features capabilities such as secured storage, automatic aging, multi-tenancy, role-based operations based on API keys, and the like. This software is wholly developed by RTS and provided to the community as a license-free, open-source solution that can be used as-is or extended as needed by partners, customers, or any other third-party.
Our ELS software is another service application utilizing Engage, providing a set of language-related services. Capabilities include speech-to-text transcription, text-to-speech synthesis, and audio and/or text translations. For example: when configured for voice-to-voice translation; ELS will convert audio from any number of input languages to any number of output languages in real-time. So, for example, a user speaking English on one channel (group) will be heard in French, German, Spanish, and Japanese on channels designated for those languages. Similarly, a Japanese speaker’s words will come out in English, French, German, and Spanish - all at once. Any number and combination of translations can be configured in ELS (currently 72 spoken languages are supported when paired with Microsoft Azure Cognitive Services), with the option of real-time textual captioning of a group’s voice stream.
